I am the first to admit I love the process of going to a coffee shop, but I also like to believe (rightly or wrongly) that I make good-to-above-average financial decisions.
Being with family in the UK over Christmas, three weeks in a little village called Woolsery, I was not physically capable of buying pre-prepared coffee from a cafe (more of a “pints at the pub” type village if you know what I mean).
Doing some quick maths, between Polly and I, we’d typically buy a combined circa 15 coffees a week (me 10, her 5) at about $6.00 each (Shhhh - I have a sooky tummy and by law require a double shot), but that equates to $90 per week and then $4,680 per year. Making it at home would be about $15 a week.
Please note: releasing equity to forward plan and cover 10 yrs of barista-made coffee is an unacceptable purpose for cash out. Releasing equity for a kitchen renovation that may include an expensive espresso machine imported from Italy is perfectly acceptable👌🏼
